DENTAL IMPLANTS

Dental Implants Look and Feel Like Teeth

Choosing dental implants is almost like having your natural tooth again. You can eat anything you like, and they will not move when you chew or smile.

Dental Implants in Troutdale, OR

Dental implants have been around for decades and have gained the reputation of the ideal way to replace a missing tooth. Opting for dental implants has many advantages for both the health and appearance of patients, and few disadvantages.

Pros and Cons of Dental Implants

In addition to replacing the entire tooth, including the root, dental implants can last a lifetime, and for people who love meals and social gatherings, having an unrestricted diet is a big bonus.

Because dental implant posts integrate with the jawbone, they are stable and permanent, barring any dental disease. Implants also provide an anchor to hold dentures in place and can replace one or all missing teeth.

Like our custom dental crowns, dental implant crowns are tooth-colored and natural-looking. You can smile with confidence. No one will know you have had a missing tooth.

Dental implants only have a couple of drawbacks. One is that they do require a bit of patience, as treatment usually takes three to four months to complete. The other is that dental implants are not right for everyone. People who take certain medications, including bisphosphonates, or who have significant bone loss may not qualify for dental implants.

How the Dental Implant Process Works

At Troutdale Dental, we want to ensure that any procedure you choose will be as successful as possible, which is why we begin with a full evaluation to determine if dental implants will be right for you.

Medical history – Prescriptions and medical history can have an impact on the success of dental implants. A full evaluation will ensure that dental implants are safe for you.

Diagnostic 3-D x-rays – Using CBCT cone beam technology, a 3-D image of the jaw, teeth, bone, and sinuses will help us identify the proper location for the dental implant.

Bone grafting – If insufficient bone is present, bone grafting can improve results and can sometimes be placed at the same time as extraction.

Surgical guide – A guide used during the surgical procedure will ensure that the implant reaches the planned location.

Impressions – Impressions and models of the teeth will give our laboratory technicians the information necessary to create a dental crown that fits your smile perfectly.

Dental Implant Surgery and Crown

Many people would like to avoid dental surgery, but it’s important to note that most people tolerate this surgery well and it only takes about an hour. Initial healing takes only a few weeks, and integration between the dental implant post and jawbone takes on average three to four months before we place the final crown.

All-on-4 Dentures

If you have opted for dental implant retained dentures, we provide patients with an innovative alternative called All-on-4. Four carefully placed dental implants will secure an entire arch of teeth in place. Since they are lower profile prosthetics, you will be able to taste food better, and they will not move when you eat.
